SHERMAN THEATRE
PROFILE
The Sherman Theatre is a venue in the Cathays district of Cardiff. It was built as a twin-auditorium venue in 1973 with financial support from Cardiff University.
CMB Engineering took part in the refurbishment of the new facility building for Sherman Cymru in 2010 and was completed in 2012.
The project included reconfiguration of front of house and backstage areas, new seating in performance venues, refurbished control rooms, new wardrobe areas, green room and a new rehearsal room built on the existing staff car park. Works also included redevelopment of the foyer area including new box office, café bar, kitchen, relocated toilets, new access and exhibition area.
The project was designed by Capita Symonds’ Jonathan Adams who also designed the Wales Millennium Centre and WJEC building.
Works undertaken on the project included Mechanical & Electrical services, Heating, Ventilation, Controls and Air Conditioning.
