Welcome Ollie – CMB’s Sponsored Guide Dog

Having previously sponsored our first Guide Dog, Ernie, back in 2019, we had the unfortunate news late last year that Ernie had failed his Guide Dog training. Although it came as a shock to us, it turns out it wasn't that unexpected given the past 2 years we have all faced. Guide dogs normally train around 1,500 dogs a year and during the first 12 months of lockdown, only 300 dogs successfully completed their training. This naturally had a huge impact on people living with a visual impairment. Evidently lockdown had a huge impact on the guide dog community too!

Guide Dogs knew that we really wanted to help with a dog for a visually impaired person and so kindly offered us to sponsor a new dog in hopes that he/she complete their training successfully.

Well fast forward several months later and Ollie was born. Ollie is a black Labrador and was born on November 8th 2021 - we have recently been sent the first picture of Ollie at just 6 week sold (pictured below). He will soon start training with his teacher where he will begin the process of becoming a fully trained guide dog for a visually impaired person.

We're looking forward to all meeting Ollie for the first time and we wish him and his training team the best of luck!

Welcome to CMB, Ollie.
