We recently made a visit to Two Bridges School – an academy in Bristol which will offer 112 places to pupils ages 2 – 19 years old with severe learning difficulties. This SEND school facility is currently in great shortage in the Bristol area and so with a high demand, we are excited to deliver this remarkable educational centre to the location.
CMB Bristol secured the £2.4 Million Mechanical & Electrical contract in December 2021 and commenced work onsite in November 2023. Despite some delays due to local matters, we remained involved throughout this period working through the pre-construction services with Main Contractor, ISG.
So far, we have successfully carried out both first and second fix throughout the Ground and First floors, with power to the LV Panels being formally switched on on July 9th and are now fully under CMB control in readiness of the commissioning for the M&E services.
The school comprises of a number of highly equipped and immersive teaching spaces with adjoining hygiene rooms, all served with assisted hoists to help with the needs of the pupils. The school also has a Hydrotherapy pool, again with full hoist assistance, and comprises of a fully remote-controlled LED Lighting and audio system to help best serve the students.
The school heating is mainly underfloor, with a few radiators in the stairwells. Ventilation for the school is served with both Mechanical (MVHR) and Natural (NVHR) ventilation units which are installed to most classrooms throughout and are all fully controlled through the BMS system.
This project is one of the larger DFE schools CMB Bristol have worked on and is a follow on from previous CMB / ISG schools – a testament to our belief in a relationship-first approach.
Works so far have included:
Sprinklers
Ventilation
Domestic services
Underfloor heating
ASHP
BMS controls
LV Distribution
Lighting
Small Power
Data
Security
Fire Alarm
Over the next few months, we will be continuing with Final Fix (Lighting & Sanitaryware) and moving into the testing and commissioning of both M&E installations. We look forward to providing another update on this project in the near future.
