The CMB Bristol team are currently carrying out the Mechanical and Electrical installations at St. Andrews Primary School in Newport.
This new £10 Million educational facility, funded by Newport City Council, will provide a modern learning environment for its students to replace the previous building. It will boast state-of-the-art facilities including spacious classrooms equipped with the latest educational technology, a range of academic spaces, specialised areas for extracurricular activities and sports, an inclusion zone, a Lego Lab, cookery facilities, community rooms and an open plaza zone.
In keeping with Newport Councils commitment to building with sustainability in mind, the flat-roof areas of the school will be covered in solar panels, whilst modern heat pumps will provide warmth and there will be ample space for the storage of bikes to encourage environmentally friendly transportation.
The project is now at the midway point where most of the high-level services have been completed and snagged ready for the ceiling installation. The building has ASHP’s that are feeding a complete underfloor heating system as well as Windcatchers and natural ventilation units providing the building with ventilation.
The client, Newport Norse, recently visited the site to conduct a mid-point review and reported back very happy with the installation and came away without finding a single snag. Main Contractor, Willmott Dixon, commented that this is a credit to CMB’s high standard of installation, as well as the wider site team.
