Hawkfield Studio, Bristol

Hawkfield Studio’s was once a disused warehouse based in the heart of Bristol that is now seeing a huge conversion into a modern, fully functional television studio. The project was secured by CMB Bristol through working collaboratively with ISG to understand the tender requirements of the client, and the plan we put together was achievable in meeting the tight timescales necessary to allow filming at the earliest opportunity.

The first task was to survey and isolate all existing services to allow the safe removal and demolition works required to facilitate the new layouts.

Our site team, led by George Douglas and Mark Duddridge, have recently reached a significant milestone of completing all high-level Low Voltage supplies and lighting. The Studios are served via Dimmer rooms with large Electrical supplies giving the flexibility for filming and lighting rigs. This involved installing Containment at 12M in the air with some extraordinarily large cables distributing around the building!

Over the next few months, we will be working to install Small Power to the Studios and Prop stores as well as fitting out the construction areas. Ventilation begins this month with large ductwork and Air Handling plant being installed to serve the Air requirements to each studio.

The project is working at a pace that requires daily coordination between the team and the wider trades and demonstrates true collaboration working at its best.

CMB Bristol Managing Director, Craig Baker, commented on the works saying: “Hawkfield’s is certainly a project we are proud of in Bristol and demonstrates the capabilities and qualities of our people. It’s a pleasure seeing this development progress and watching our team lead the way. Another project being carried out in a proactive and high-quality manner. Well done to everyone involved.”

Further updates to follow in the near future.
