Three of our team attended a careers day at Eastern High School to give students in year 11 a taste of what it’s like to work in the construction and engineering industry.
Former CMB Apprentice Jessica Dix, Contracts Manager Tom Price, and Site Supervisor, Jason Oliver spoke to the students informing them about what we do at CMB and the range of departments and roles that are available in a construction organisation like ours. The students gave great enthusiasm, and many seemed interested in our apprenticeship programme.
In December 2018, we completed mechanical and electrical works on Eastern High School, and it was great to be able to show the students an example of our work by simply looking up from where we were sitting.
Those students interested in a future career with us were given the opportunity to take part in a mock interview with our staff. This showed them an insight into the application progress and gave them the opportunity for a one-on-one chat with an experienced employee at CMB.
With apprenticeships and our train and retain programme being at the core of CMB, we see the importance in attending these events and encourage young people to consider a career in this industry. We believe that great opportunities and future employees can come from these experiences.
