On Saturday 15th June at the Annual BESA Awards at the Marriott Hotel in Cardiff there was a presentation for 3 people who started in the construction industry at the same time and were celebrating their 50th year in this industry. These people were Glen Narbeth, Steve Airey, and our founder and Managing Director Steve Borley. Unfortunately, Steve was on holiday at the time of the presentation but his nephew and CMB Project Director, Rob Borley received the award on his behalf.
Having started out as an apprentice at just 16 years old, Steve has had a successful and impactful career in the construction industry. He founded CMB Engineering in 1992 with just £250 with wife Christine and the company celebrated its 30th birthday in 2022. The company is now recognised in the Top 30 Building Services Companies in the UK and Number 1 in Wales, having grown organically with a train and retain policy from the outset.
