Following the initial visit to BBC Elstree Studios back in October of last year, we have successfully handed over Phase 1 of the project to our client.
The handover photos showcase the design process for the Mechanical and Electrical by leaving the M&E services on display as a centrepiece of the television production facility, rather than the traditional method of hiding them behind ceiling voids. This includes areas such as private offices, meeting rooms, communal staff spaces and editing and dubbing suites.
Phase 1 of this complex and large-scale project has come with its challenges, particularly with time constraints, but the BBC were happy with the finished product provided by the CMB team, working in partnership with Heydon & Carr and Mitie Projects.
We are also pleased to bring the first Phase 4 update for the BBC Elstree Television Studios in Borehamwood.
This side of the development will be a space largely fitted out with dressing and makeup rooms for the actors that use the studios, as well as the scenery production staff that build the production sets for the likes of EastEnders and Holby City.
Phase 4 is served by central air plant throughout with a VRV System in specific areas. In line with Phase 1’s design plan, this area also has been designed to keep M&E services on display upon completion. This assists with coordination in a building with such space restraints and also shows off the quality of work we have carried out throughout construction.
This stage of the project, in partnership with Heydon & Carr and J4 Projects, is due to be fully handed over by the end of April with a few small, phased handovers in between. We look forward to bringing you the full project handover following that.
