Eight Storey Open Plan Office Block, accommodating Hugh James Solicitors and Cardiff University.



The Plot 2 Building is situated on the Central Square Site in the Centre of Cardiff. It is Part of a Masterplan for this area which has been designed by Foster + Partners. The principal access will be off Wood Street which will be in constant use in line with a city centre public highway. The Plot 2 Project consists of a Steel Frame Structure with concrete cores.

The Cores include Four Lifts (Two Fire Fighting & Two Passenger) with two Staircase Cores and an additional lift between Basement and Ground for Waste Management purposes which extends to the Mezzanine Level. The External Facade is a Stick Curtain Walling System with Metal Cladding to the Core from Levels 6 up to the Roof. The Roof will consist of an inverted Hot Melt System with Paving and a Ballast Perimeter this will includes the Terrace Area on the 7th Floor. There is an Aluminium Slat Louvered System on the Ground Floor encasing three sides of the Access Ramp to Plot 2 & 3.

CMB were awarded the M&E Contract to provide the following services.

The Mechanical installation features a heating installation of gas fired boilers serving Fan Coil Units, Radiators and Air Handling Units. A Chilled Water System to provide cooling, ventilation system comprised of a number of Air Handling Units and Heat Recovery Units.

DX Cooling to all IT Comms Rooms provided by our In-House Specialist; CMB Renewables.

Domestic Water Services provided by boosted cold water supply and hot water via a gas fired water heater.

Fully integrated Trend BMS Control System.

The Electrical Systems comprised of LV Switchboard and Distribution, Life Safety Generator, Small Power, Lighting, Fire Alarm Systems and ICT System. A photovoltaic array on the roof provides a source of electricity with a facility to export to the grid during summer months.

The building is protected by a sprinkler system, smoke extract system and car park ventilation.

The Building is covered by a CCTV installation and Access Control which creates a secure environment.

CMB successfully handed over the Project in September 2018.
