CMB Engineering is South Wales' largest independent Building Services Contractor with projected turnover for year 2007-2008 being in excess of £30m.

Company Origins

The company was initially formed in 1992 as a partnership by Steven & Christine Borley. In response to significant early growth the company changed its status to a limited company in September 1997; Borley Engineering Services Ltd trading as CMB Engineering.

Continual Growth

The business has continued to grow annually by adopting a 'no grief' constructive approach to contracting, avoiding confrontation and claims by promoting co-operation and team work. In January 2004 CMB Engineering acquired the assets and contracts of Blackpool based Fylde Mechanical & Electrical Services. A new company, CMB Fylde Engineering, was formed employing the existing staff and site operatives to service the North of England.

Key Contracts

Since the procurement and successful completion in August 1999 of the £7m mechanical services contract at Celtic Manor Resort reputedly Europe's largest hotel / conference / leisure complex, CMB Engineering have enjoyed unprecedented client respect and support. The company's portfolio of past and present projects illustrates a significant volume of 'repeat business', the reward for the competitiveness and 'no grief' culture adopted.

Positive Relationships

It is of paramount importance to CMB Engineering that the selection process of subcontractors is undertaken with care and consideration of clients' requirements. Accordingly, all subcontractors are appointed from a list of proven local contractors with whom a sound working relationship has been established.

Although a single discipline contractor, the company has considerable experience in partnering with electrical contractors on Mechanical & Electrical Projects. This section of the business is expanding rapidly, nearly 50% of all secured projects are multi-discipline with CMB Engineering taking the lead role in project management. Principle partners include Alfred McAlpine Business Services, CMBE Ltd, Balfour Kilpatrick, Whitehead Electrical, Evans Electrical and Honeybun Electrical.

Quality Assurance

CMB Engineering are members of the Heating & Ventilating Contractors Association (classification6) and are registered with Constructionline.
